Yesterday was an interesting day, in terms of progress.
I got home and immediately tackled the tights I’d bought for my arms and legs. And immediately regretted it! Even though I hemmed the openings I cut immediately, I was still getting runs and I just really wasn’t happy with the way it looked in general. It looked ok on my arms but not on my chest (stretched too much), the fingers I put together looked bulky… I saved one pair, sewed it back up around the worst of the runs, and that’ll be what I use for my lower legs.
So for my arms and chest, I’m just going to paint them. The only reason I wanted to try the tights is so I would rub off on my dress, but I think it’ll be ok. It’s less painting than Starfire was, and way way less than Ahsoka or Poison Ivy, so it won’t be bad. And this way I know it all matches.
So after that, I decided to go ahead and do my makeup test to compare how the green of the tights looked with the green of my makeup. I also wanted to see how it looked with the wig, and get an idea if I needed to curl the wig further or anything.
Pretty happy with it. I used a darker green around the edge of my face and my eyelids. Because I’m not doing a ton of mixing, it went on really fast. I skipped the eyelashes, didn’t want to get them messed up before the con.
And full length. I wish my lighting in my bedroom was better…
After I finished playing around, I washed my face and then painted the lower half of my tights on my legs. I let them dry overnight, I’ll check them out again later today and see how they turned out.
As you can see I also made my scarf – glitter EVERYWHERE guys…
What else did I do… oh I got the skirt hemmed, got the shoulder straps sewn together (finally). And then Chase cut out the base for my belt, and I got it covered in my fabric. I started doing the darker green trim on the edges but my sewing machine was NOT liking the leather/vinyl/spandex combo. It kept squishing the spandex up and looking terrible. So I’m going to do a glue test and see if I can just glue the trim on… if not I’ll just whip stitch it directly onto the vinyl casing instead of going through the leather base, too.
I’m really hoping MAYBE I can be completely done with it tonight so I can move on to the theater dresses I need to finish up.
